Abstract:

The linear artificial transmission line model of Morris and Hutchens is modified for materials with mechanical nonlinearity. A very good agreement is observed between the simulated and experimental results concerning both the amplitude-frequency effect and the intermodulation effect. This fact suggests that the mechanical nonlinearity is a possible origin of the nonlinear resonator behavior.
